Nutty & earthy in taste, White Cowpea is pale white with a creamy texture. Also known as Lobia, it is considered a staple ingredient in Punjabi cuisine. These thick black-eyed beans are a good source of protein and fibre. Even without using any spices, White Cowpea is quite famous for its distinctive taste.
You can make a simple Lobia curry that goes well with rice. Moreover, it is popularly used to make the Punjabi style Lobia, salads & dal tikkis.
Our Lobia/Chawla has no added chemicals, polishes or colours. It is organically grown using sustainable agricultural practices.
How to use: To prepare White Cowpeas for curry, soak for 4-5 hours and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. To make sprouts, soak for 8-12 hours till white roots emerge and the cowpea is soft to eat. Rinse well before consuming. You can also add boiled or sprouted White Cowpeas to chaats and salads.
