Creamy white in colour and mild flavour, Black Gram (Whole - Without Skin) has been eaten in India for thousands of years. When cooked with hearty Indian spices, it turns soft and buttery with a creamy texture. These lentils are fibre rich, protein-packed and healthy.
North Indians enjoy Urad Dal with potato sabzi and chapatis. In the south, it is popularly used in recipes ranging from paper-thin dosa, deep-fried vadas, fluffy idlis, spongy uttapam and crispy appe.
Our Urad Dal has no added chemicals, polishes or colours. It is organically grown using sustainable agricultural practices.
How to use: To prepare Urad dal, for dal or curry, soak for 4-5 hours and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. To prepare dosa batter, wash once it’s soaked and grind into a paste.
You can also fry them whole to add them to tadkas and chutney.
