A creamy white and earthy lentil, Black Gram (Split - Without Skin) has a distinctive flavour. As one of the most popular pulses in India, it is widely used in Indian cuisine and is a staple of North Indian cooking. It makes for a wholesome, thickened gravy when cooked as a dal.
In South Indian tempering, Urad Dal Mogar is a special ingredient that becomes crunchy after frying, adding a delicious flavour. A variety of dishes can be made using Black Gram, such as dosa, subzis, idli, dahi vada and snacks.
Our Urad Dal Mogar has no added chemicals, polishes or colours. It is organically grown using sustainable agricultural practices.
How to use: To prepare Urad dal, for dal or curry, soak for 4-5 hours or overnight and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. To prepare dosa batter, wash them once it’s soaked and grind them into a paste..
